Better safe than sorry in the 2024 election
You'll say, "Don't allow negativity to reign in." We don't need that. We should be positive and bring good vibes to make us feel confident. But I beg to differ. We should expect defeat. Let me try to explain.
There are several advantages to being prepared to lose instead of assuming "this one is the bag." Kamala's campaign is somehow doing precisely that. They post ads saying, "We are losing; send money." I don't believe it is true, but they are doing that for a reason—contrary to the MAGA party, which spreads the air of victory so they can get more rich donors to line their pockets.
On the one hand, it boosts our ego to feel positive after hearing some YouTuber convincing you that Trump is crazy and depressed and he is showing signs of dementia. That makes us feel good about the future and relieves our anxiety. Please don't fall for it!
But it's true; everything led us to believe Democrats would win. First, we were told not to trust the polls. And yes, the polls in this election are most likely wrong because this election dynamics are unlike any other. After all, polls only show us a trend, and the good news is that Kamala is trending up. So put that in your pocket. But let's indulge a little more before we sit in front of the TV on election night with lots of booze handy.
We have not only Liz Chaney endorsing Kamaka Harris but campaigning with her. This is an unprecedented, fortuitous event we can't ignore. But wait, there's more.
A massive Democratic vote registration from young people, in particular young black women:
According to Target Smart, data show that registration is up 175.8% among young Black women; 149.7% among young Latinas; 98.4% among Black women overall; 85.8% among Black Americans generally; and 83.7% among young women as a whole. source: Salon
And on the other side, we see a senile, incontinent, convicted criminal, rapist, con artist, vile, incoherent Putin lover of a candidate who publicly stated numerous times that he would end democracy on day one and take away all your constitutional rights and if you oppose him he will have the military throwing you in jail. Oh, and not only that, but he would impose stiff tariffs on all imports, making inflation go through the roof. What could possibly go wrong with this scenario? And how could we possibly lose this election? Yes, we could. Never underestimate humanity's ignorance.
Stay skeptical to the end, my friends, for good or for worse; if anything, take several incursions to the echo chamber on the other side. Believe when they say that Trump is ahead in the polls and believe that every Trumpian zombie will come out of their holes and vote for him because they will. And believe when they say that this election is already rigged because it will be, and this is entirely another problem, we'll have to face in the 2024 election the day after.
First, look at the present political scenario in the United States, where people are given two options. 1) Vote for an insane criminal and incontinent and then jump off a cliff, falling to your death against the sharp rocks below, or 2) Vote for a sensible, intelligent, and honorable person who might make things a lot better for all of us.
If you ask any normal human being what their choice would have been and they are struggling to decide, you know something is terribly wrong. You know that there is an apparent underlying problem because normal human beings would not have any trouble deciding between these two choices.
But here is the problem: Americans are having difficulty time making this simple decision. For a reason, we can't quite figure it out yet, and we might never be able to. And this is a serious problem. Something is rotten to the core and we have a real problem, and there is no denial here. It is like your doctor calls you and says you have a little cancer—not to worry—it is just a little cancer.
Folks, it's too late. There is nothing anyone can do. The results are already there. Whatever will be will be, and we will see what we will see. Expect the best, but prepare for the worst.
Preparing for the worst is a better strategy because it puts you in an advantageous position. You can't change the outcome of things, but you can be better prepared to deal with new situations. Since these elections are taking a toll on people's psyches, we need some valuable advice on how to better position ourselves.
Here are some advantages
# 1. You really don't know if we're going to win. If you entertain any idea that the victory is in the bag, you are setting yourself up for a deep deception and subsequent depression. Preparing to lose will not change the outcome, and if we win, then pour yourself another glass of wine and crank up the music.
# 2 If we lose, you'll be more prepared, not surprised, and out of guard; you'll understand and switch gears immediately. You're prepared because you are already brainstorming what to do in case Trump wins, including how we could mount a massive opposition to the regime that will be installed. The ways in which the Trump dictatorship could be sabotaged and compromised. What kind of coalitions could be launched? What blue states could do to counterattack the dictator? Or finally, to what country you could move to.
# 3 By believing we are losing, you create the right environment for winning. Never show your enemy that you're in control or you have the upper hand. Fake your way into victory. You'll be relentless and keep fighting until the end. If we created the affirmation of winning, we'll just relax into a delusion that we are winning, and nothing more needs to be done. I believe the other side is doing that. If you have doubts you'll just keep on fighting.
One election night, grab your drink of choice, wine probably the best, and invite your best friends. But don't entertain a victory. Stay stoic and dead pan-faced, or shit face, whatever you'll need to go through the night. Good luck to all of us!
